Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read is observed during the last week of September each year. Since 1982, this annual event has reminded Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted.  Do you know what the most challenged series of the 21st century has been?  (Hint: The main character has a pet owl and goes to a school named Hogwarts.)   To find out the answer to this question and see the latest list of other challenged books go to: http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/bbwkit/bookschallenged/2007shortlist.pdf
